TV Repair

Some of the underlying problems damaging your television can be minor and attended to by yourself at home. This might include changing a few settings with your remote control or checking the basic wiring and connections. Some other issues might be more serious and need professional help. Let’s identify what you might be facing:

Your LCD/LED is displaying no picture.

This might be faced when at times you switch on your TV & it displays no pictures or displays a blank screen. Reasons why your TV might not be displaying pictures:
  • The cables are damaged or loose. You can check if the yellow cable, which is the cable responsible for displaying pictures, is loose. If fixing it still doesn't solve the problem then the cable might be damaged.
  • Wrong TV settings. If there is no picture display on your TV, one of the reasons can be the wrong TV settings. This happens quite often if the settings have been changed unknowingly. You can click on the menu button with your TV remote, go to the image section & check if the settings are alright. You can check the TV brightness & picture settings.
  • There is a signal problem. If your TV is not receiving a signal, it might interfere with your TV picture display. You can check this by switching to other channels. If other channels are showing pictures, it means that there is a signal issue that can be resolved by contacting your cable service provider and getting it fixed.
  • Your TV screen is damaged. If the sound of your TV is okay but it is not displaying pictures, it might mean that your TV screen is damaged. This can be repaired within a few minutes if you contact your nearest TV repair service.
You can make your TV display pictures again if the issue is minor by checking if the cord is plugged in or the TV display settings are right. Although, getting professional help is advisable for other issues.

2Your TV is embarrassingly pixelated.

Picture pixelation in LCD/LED is a common issue. It can occur if the incoming signal to your TV has become weak or incomplete. This can be resolved by:
  • Installing an external or rooftop antenna that can increase your signal strength.
  • Pixelation after watching DVDs can be caused by a scratched disk. You can clean the DVD with a dry cloth, without wiping it near the circular motion around the disk.
  • Having multiple TVs & multiple splitters in a house might cause weak signals. Remove the coaxial cable splitter to reduce the signal interference or book a cable employee to visit your house and identify ways to increase your cable signal strength.
Picture pixelation can be quite irritating but can be fixed easily with some of these steps at home on your own or you always have the option of booking a TV mechanic for the same.

3Your TV audio can’t catch up with your TV Video.

TV audio being delayed is a commonly faced issue that is quite troublesome. Reasons your TV audio can’t catch up with your TV video:
  • If there is a delay in the audio while watching a TV program then the issue could be with the broadcast itself or a bad cable/satellite set-top box connection.
  • If there is a delay in the audio while using a DVD then a poor connection between the TV & the DVD player or the disc itself can be a problem.
  • Audio delays while using a home theater connected to your TV with an optical cable might require manual adjustment on the home theater system.
The sound might be delayed due to audio processing delays in the home theater system or the soundbar if the TV is connected to a soundbar or home theater system with an HDMI or optical cable.

4The display is dimmed, distorted, or discolored.

If your LCD/LED display appears to be too dark then the following steps can be followed to resolve it:
  • The screen might become dark if the picture mode is set to cinema or custom. You might have to change the setting backlight, picture, and brightness & adjust the brightness as you please.
  • You can try changing the power saving mode, as it makes the screen dark.
  • If you have one of the fancier TVs, then it may have a light sensor that makes the display brighter or lighter, according to the room lighting. You can increase the picture brightness by turning the automatic brightness control off.
  • If you want to check whether or not the issue is being caused by the divided signal to the TV, you can try viewing programming from different sources like a DVD or VCR.
  • A method that is close to a classic Indian fix can be to unplug the air conditioner power cord for 30 seconds and reset the television, you never know it might as well do the trick.

5Your TV screen is cracked.

  • Vertical and horizontal lines on your TV display might both be an indication of loose cables, wires, a damaged screen, or a faulty T-Con board. If you often keep your television turned on for too long, it might cause vertical lines.
  • If you find your TV screen to be broken you can replace the screen, Plasma or the LED part.
  • You can also try updating your software or resetting your TV to factory settings to get rid of the stripes on your TV screen.
